I had purchased an upright, semi-brand new, reheasal piano from Lincoln Center, in 2020, while under quarantine, as a result of Covid-19. I had paid $5000 for it. Since, then I had it tuned each year for $200. But, I am going over the math in my mind's-eye, and soon I will be paying move for TUNING, then, I had originally paid for the piano . . . four years ago. I found this information useful.

My Tuner charges me $200.00 . . . I need to learn to Tune my Upright myself.

You just through 300 in the 100 dollar guitar why didn't u just spend the 400 for a better grade guitar 🤔

Your channel has been an immense inspiration and has empowered me to make my own bowed guitar/arpeggione from existing parts - thank you for showing me that I am actually capable of doing this stuff! I pretty much have everything figured out but the bridge placement and intonation (never built/assembled an instrument before). I am using a classical style cello bridge, but one that was made for 6+ strings, a premade arpeggione neck, and a Hofner violin bass body. Do you know if the bridge should be placed with the same philosophy as a guitar - that is, such that the 12th fret harmonic occurs for each open string at the halfway point of the scale length? The pickup will be a piezo in the bridge, so worrying about an internal sound post isn't part of the equation, thankfully. I am grateful for any input you can offer!

I'm thinking with the money I'm saving by getting a piano for free, I'll go ahead and just hire a pro lol

It's why Ax Edge is Ax edge. That's it. It's like classy truck nuts. But yeah, I can walk into the audience and rip solos, unlike my heavy shit back there on the keyboard stand. Definitely not for everyone. Vortex is lovely and most practical. But I can't wait to get back out and Ax all over the place

DIY Music Actually you could use magnetic pickups on bowed instruments, they would have to have a radius in them.

I just bought the tuning kit, and it arrives tonight! I'm excited to both tune a very out of tune piano, as well as learn a little about notes (I'm tuning this for my wife).

as much as I'd love to tour with an upright... I can't possibly imagine A, having to tune the piano every single show or B, having to commission a piano tuner for every single show... not to mention C, actually having to load and unload it 3-4 times a week lol.

My A is 426hz. The rest of it seems in line with this. Should I tune the piano around this or push the pitch up but risk snapping strings?

Pianos have to be the most pain in the arse instrument to take care of. They also take up so much room, and can't be easily transported. I think I will stick with my trumpet.
